Hey world. Sorry no updates for a while. Between law school, and my other writing interest at southerncollegesports.com, I basically gave up the diary. Well I'm back and I do not have much to say other than happy new year.
You know what sucks? Writing 26 cover letters to 26 law firms who probably will not employ you but you have to play the game just in case. Blech. Law school exams stink too, but they are manageable. I just hope I did well enough to be offered law review next year and perhaps even get a high paying job this summer. I need one to pay for my part of the wedding and honeymoon...since my family is being bitchy and like pulling teeth to get money for anything while Kelley's family pays for stuff left and right. We'll make it, just don't know how yet. Things between Kelley and I are great, as far as I can tell but God only knows sometimes. Looking forward to wedding counseling with Steve, but a little apprehensive that the tests will tell us we are stupid for getting married. I know what I want and I want her for the rest of my life but my family (AKA my mother) does not see it. And then she has the nerve to plan a wedding to a guy in March she has only known since October 1. My family is just as effed up as Kelley's for sure.
Gotta go back to law school Monday. After the first semester I can really only say it is going to be a fun challenge. Assuming my grades are not terrible, I think I've got the system down and it makes law school not so tough. It is still tons of information you have to pull up at the drop of a hat come December or May. I doubt I will have as good of professors this time around too, so we'll see if that changes anything.
Lost 10 dollars on my bet that the Bengals wouldn't make the playoffs, but AK felt bad for me and bet me double or nothing on Bengals making Super Bowl. If they beat Pittsburgh in the first round Sunday I'd be amazed. Ohio State had a good football season and are one of 5 teams nationally still undefeated in basketball, so it could be a banner year for the first time in ages. Here's hoping Vince Young does not come back so OSU has the inside track to the football national title next year. Oh and for my poker bloggers out there, I was down $149 in 2005, but have played sharp and recovered $57 in the first week of 2006. Maybe the bad breaks are over and my sharp play can finally pay off online, since it seems like I end up ahead in most sessions since November. Who knows, this will either be a hobby which costs me very little at worst or something which may help pay in some small respect for the honeymoon if I keep a lucky streak.
Christmas was interesting. Let's just say my mom and I had a falling out about weddings and Kelley and mom are still not on a good page. Odd as it sounds, the most comfortable time was 2 hours with Kelley's mom, who used to intimidate me a little. They are so laid back and I love the fact that they always get tools! I got a nice toolbox which I will put to as much use as I did the plastic chest they gave me I keep a lot of clothes in. In fact it is already full! My truck has a back hard cover on it now, and it took a lot of elbow grease and paying for Tom's dinner to get him to help me put it all together and get all the velcro residue off my truck. My truck looks so much better now, and I just installed the lock and shocks as the final two pieces this week when it was warm. Speaking of weather, it has been pleasant except when we went to windy Iowa and I expect hell to freeze over when we go back to class. Finals were rough with 0-10 degree mornings calling for Speedway hot cappachino to make it through. Spring semester has less distractions such as football, so hopefully I can enjoy my last full team Magic season and spend plenty of extra time with the fiancee. If the wedding gets pulled off...we (and by we I mean she) should get an award. Of course she will get a very nice bridal gift which I alreayd picked out...since she reads this that will just kill her.
Well I updated and although I did not detail the law school experience as I said I might...I still enjoy floating around the internet. I just love facebook a lot more while in class as it takes less attention away in case notes need to be taken (and they frequently do since professors can only rant for so long). I hope everybody had a happy holiday season and we'll talk to you soon.
BTW: groomsmen have been picked but not confirmed. Tom is my best man and he is confirmed. Shep, AK, and Zach are my groomsmen but only Zach is confirmed. I will get on that so that Berens and Everson (my backups) can fill in soon if necessary.
We made the round of 8 for law school bowling league. Doubt I brought it up much, but we knocked off the 2 seed in the first round before losing to some 3L assholes. They got theirs in the finals against a 1L team from our section of classes though, so it felt good to see them get revenge for our section. We will be named mens fing rea for the spring semester, and I feel like I've found a whole new set of loves again between poker, bowling, and that sportswriting stint. Good hobbies to keep your mind off law school from time to time. Bye for now.
